Education
The
Friends of Hanauma Bay supports the University of Hawaii's Hanauma Bay
Education Program. Education Program volunteers who give tours of the
Bay and staff the education desk are FOHB members.
Protection
of the Environment
The
Friends of Hanauma Bay has formally adopted the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
under the City's Adopt a Park program, taking responsibility for quarterly
cleanups and other enhancements.
Interested
in Creating more Marine Life Conservation Districts (MLCD)
Additional
MLCD's will allow visitors and residents on all islands to have additional
inviting places to observe Hawaii's unique marine life.
Having
a Good Time!
The
Friends of Hanauma Bay organizes social events, special outings, and
after-hours activities at the Bay for members.
The
purpose of this nonprofit organization is:
To
develop, maintain, and protect the natural qualities of Hanauma Bay
Nature Preserve. The membership has agreed to:
Conserve
the fragile natural resources of this unique marine preserve;
Educate
the public on the proper use and enjoyment of this unique site;
Provide
formal and informal docent services;
Assist
government agencies in the development and management of Hanauma Bay;
Promote
an atmosphere of enjoyment for local residents and visitors; and
Promote
and foster the development of other marine preserves providing a similar
experience as Hanauma Bay for residents and visitors.
